Trade Find has been designed to be EASY to use! All features & functions are marked clearly and all information is presented and processed in a logical order. Reading this user guide isn't necessary, but we've included it on the site should you feel you need it.
REGISTRATION
GETTING STARTED
Your first step in using Trade Find is to register as a Trade Find User. Registration is FREE and it only takes a few seconds. You must be registered before you can place an Ad on Trade Find. People browsing Ads don't need to be registered to browse Ads or to view an advertiser's contact details, however you get access to a variety of additional site features once you are registered. To register you need a working email address. You need this because we send you an Activation Email which 'validates' your email address. If you don't have an email address, enter the keyword 'email' into the FAQs search box to view your options in obtaining one (The FAQ's button is located in the orange boxes on the left side of your screen).
FOLLOWING REGISTRATION
Once you have received your new registration 'Activation Email' from Trade Find and have clicked the link it contains to activate your registration, you are free to log in, Browse Ads, Create Ads, and use all the features displayed to you.
BROWSING SERVICE ADS
SERVICE AD BROWSING
There's a variety of ways to view Service Ads on Trade Find:
Category Browsing: If you already know what you're looking for and you wish to browse for a particular service, enter your keyword into the 'Browse Search bar', or alternatively click on the main-category link diplaying. You can also click on 'Browse Ads' (the blue tab at the top of the Home Page) which will present all main-category and sub-category links.
Browsing All Ads: If you have no idea who you're looking for and you just want to browse all Ads to see who you might want to bookmark, click 'Browse Ads' (the blue tab at the top of the Home Page) and either choose a category or click the 'Browse All Ads' link located on the top right of the page.
CHANGING YOUR BROWSE REGION
There are 18 Browse regions in NZ and you can also Browse 'All of NZ' if you choose. To change your browse region, make your selection from the drop down box in the orange box at the top left side of your screen, or in the search region if presented on your page.
VIEWING ALL AD PAGES
Once on the Ad display pages, scroll down to see all Ads available and select the next page (if available) to view the next page available (you'll see the words 'Page X of X' at the top right above the Ads on display is more pages are available).
USING A SERVICE AD NUMBER TO BROWSE A SERVICE AD
If you know a Service Ad number, you have an option to enter it directly into the Browse Service Ad number box (positioned in the orange box on the left side of your screen). Entering an Ad number will open the Ad it directly relates to.
USING KEYWORDS TO SEARCH SERVICE ADS
You can enter a 'keyword' into the 'Search box' (positioned on the blue search bar near the top of the Home Page), or you can enter a keyword into the orange box on the left side of your screen if you have moved beyond the Home Page, and you will be presented with every Service Ad on Trade Find that contains your keyword.
Once your keyword is entered you can then click on the blue 'Service Ads' tab (at the top left of the page) or on the orange 'Job Board' tab (at the top right of the page) to view all Service Ads and Job Ads that contain your keyword.
BOOKMARKING SERVICE ADS
When you find Ads you like, it's a good idea to 'Bookmark' them straight away to build your own service directory. To bookmark an Ad, click 'Bookmark Ad' which is positioned at the bottom of each opened Service Ad between 'Report Ad' and 'Email Friend'.
VIEWING YOUR BOOKMARKS
When you want to look through your 'Bookmarked Ads', click 'My Bookmarked Ads' (positioned in the orange box on the left side of your screen). Bookmarked Ads will automatically display whether the Ad is active or has been deactivated temporarily by the Ad owner.
VIEWING DEACTIVATED SERVICE ADS
Ad owners have an option to deactivate their Ads during times when they need to take a break or take vacation. When Browsing Ads or viewing Bookmarked Ads, you'll recognise a deactivated Ad because it will display a 'BUSY' icon (person running) or an 'ON VACATION' icon (palm tree). At the same time you'll notice that the advertisers contact details are no longer displayed.
SETTING AUTO-NOTIFICATION ON A DEACTIVATED SERVICE AD
If you want to receive automatic notification when an advertiser with a deactivated Ad has activated their Ad, click on the notification 'click here' option which is displayed instead of the advertisers contact details on the opened Ad. If the advertiser has an email address on their Ad, they will recieve an automatic email notification from Trade Find informing them that someone is waiting for their Ad to be activated.
CONTACTING A SERVICE ADVERTISER
While creating Ads, advertisers select the contact details they'd like displayed on their Ad. They can also select and insert a variety of options that they'd like you to know about the service they are offering. These include Service Areas, Service Fees, Payment Methods, Payment Terms and Availability. When you click 'Email this Advertiser' or the 'advertisers email address' (displayed on the opened Ad) you will be presented with a service enquiry email template to complete.
VIEWING ADVERTISER'S FEEDBACK
If feedback has been placed on the Ad owner you'll see a number in brackets after the words 'View Feedback' (positioned above the advertisers contact details). Click 'View Feedback' to read feedback that has been pasted. Click 'View Ratings' to see how the feedback rating was constructed.
PLACING FEEDBACK ON AN ADVERTISER
If you have used an advertiser's service and would like to place feedback on the advertiser, click 'Place Feedback' (positioned above the advertisers contact details) and complete the Feedback template presented. You cannot place feedback on your own Ad.
VIEWING ENLARGED AD PHOTOS
If you want to view a photo in its largest format, 'double click' on the photo in an opened Ad and a new photo box will be presented. Photo's can only be enlarged to size that they have been pasted on Trade Find. Photo quality is also something we have no control over. To close the photo viewer and return to the Ad, click 'Return to Ad' (the blue button at the top left).
EMAILLING A SERVICE AD TO A FRIEND
To email a Service Ad to a friend, click 'Email Friend' (positioned at the bottom of each opened Service Ad between 'Bookmark Ad' and 'Print Ad' and follow the prompts to complete your email.
PRINTING A SERVICE AD
If you have a printer connected, you can print a Service Ad by clicking 'Print Ad' (positioned at the bottom of each opened Ad beside 'Email Friend'). Follow your normal printing prompts to print the Ad.
BROWSING THE JOB BOARD
JOB CATEGORY BROWSING
If you want to Browse jobs on Trade Find's 'Job Board', click 'Browse Jobs' (the blue tab at the top of every page), select the category you wish to browse or scroll down through all Ads and select the next page if available (you'll see the words 'Page X of X' at the top right above the Ads on display). To change your browse region select your preferred region from the drop down box (positioned at the top of the orange box on the left side of your screen), or alternatively select the region from the drop down box if displaying on the page.
USING A JOB AD NUMBER TO BROWSE A JOB AD

APPLYING FOR A JOB ON THE JOB BOARD
While creating Job Ads, advertisers select the contact details they want displayed on an Ad. They also get to select and insert a variety of options that they'd like you to know about the job they are offering. These include the Job Urgency, Job Location and Job Payment. To apply for a job, choose from the selection of available advertiser contact details. When you click 'Email this Advertiser' or the 'advertisers email address' (displayed on the opened Ad), you will be presented with a job enquiry email template to complete.
EMAILLING A JOB BOARD AD TO A FRIEND
To email a Job Ad to a friend, click 'Email Friend' (positioned at the bottom of each opened Service Ad between 'Bookmark Ad' and 'Print Ad') and follow the prompts to complete your email.

BROWSING YOUR OWN ADS
When browsing your own Ads, you are presented with an 'Advertisers Quick View' box at the top of each opened Ad. This box helps you to manage your Ad/s and provides quick access to all edit, update and management features. This box is exclusive to the advertiser and is not displayed to anyone else viewing your Ad/s.
REPORTING ADS
If you view an Ad you feel is breaching Trade Find's 'Terms & Conditions' you can report it to Trade Find. To report an Ad, click 'Report Ad' (positioned at the bottom of an opened Ad beside 'Bookmark Ad').
CREATING SERVICE ADS
SELECT THE SIZE OF SERVICE AD YOU REQUIRE
On the 'Create' page you have an option to choose between two (2) different Service Ad sizes.
- Standard Ads have up to 500 text characters, with one (1) logo and one (1) photo.
- Extreme Ads have up to 2000 text characters, with one (1) logo and five (5) photos.
SELECT THE NUMBER OF SERVICE ADS YOU REQUIRE
Choose one Ad or an Ad package that matches the number of Ads you require. Savings can be made on single transaction Ad pack purchases.
COMPLETE THE SERVICE AD TEMPLATES
Once you've selected the Ad or Ad packages you require, you are presented with an Ad creation template. Create a Service Ad by typing into the text boxes provided and by selecting the information you want to display on your Ad from the various options presented. Here follows the basic structure of a Service Ad template:
Category
Scroll down to select the Category and Sub-Category you wish to advertise under.
Ad Title
Give your Service Ad a Title (e.g.: Sally's Cleaning Services)
Header
Insert a brief description of your Service (e.g.: Interior House Cleaning)
Ad Body
Tell people viewing your Service Ad about your service and abilities. Use the 'Ad Body Font Toolbar' (eg: Bold, Italics, Bullet Points etc) to add interest to your Ad text and layout. Don't type your email address, phone numbers, website address, or physical address into your Ad Body. This box is purely for your Ad text.
Servicing Areas
Select the areas and suburbs you are willing to service. By default the Service Area displayed is related to your 'Registration Suburb'. If you want to change the Service Area, select your preferred area in the 'Change Region box' and click 'GO' to update your selection. You can be very specific about the area or areas you service, which is a great feature for people who only want to work in their own neighbourhood (ie:retired citizens and teenagers). If you want to provide services to the whole region displayed just select all or any variation of the options presented. If you'd like to display your Ad in EVERY New Zealand region, just select the 'Display in every New Zealand region' option.
Service Options
Tell people viewing your Ad about what sort of work you're looking for, i.e.: One-Off-Jobs, Ongoing Work, Special Projects, Domestic Jobs, Commercial Jobs, 24 Hour Emergency Jobs or On Call Jobs. You can select one or more of these options.
Service Fee
Tell people viewing your Ad how you charge out or price your service. Select one or multiples of the following options: I'll Quote, Fixed Rate (insert the amount and select what the fixed rate relates to, i.e.: Per Activity, Per Call-Out, Per Day, Per Delivery, Per Hour, Per Job, Per Night, Per Session, Per Term, Per Week). Finish by selecting: Includes GST, Excludes GST, or Not GST Registered.
Payment Options
This is where you state your Payment Terms, i.e.: Payment Up Front, Payment on Completion, Payment at the end of the Call-Out, Job, Night, Term etc, if you need a Deposit with the Balance on Completion and whether you're prepared to accept Split Payments.
Payment Method
Select the method of payment you require or are prepared to accept, i.e.: Cash, Bank Cheque, Personal Cheque, Bank Deposit, Contra, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners.
Availability
Make your selections so that people viewing your Service Ad can see when you are available to provide the service you're offering. Use the Auto-fill selections or manually select the days and nights you'd like displayed on your Ad.
Contact Details
Insert your email address (if available), any phone numbers you wish to display on your Ad and your business address (if you have one). Tick the boxes of the details you'd like displayed on your Ad. At least one method of contact must be entered. If your email address is entered and not ticked, Service Ad inquiries will be forwarded through Trade Find's email system without disclosing your email address. Any emails you respond to from your inbox will display your email address.
Adding Your Website Address and other URL's
If you have a website you should display it on your Service Ad. The website address you enter becomes a direct link from your Service Ad (just another great way of getting maximum exposure of your service, business and message). We've provided three links in total so you can attach anything from video clips to webpages that you want to be accessed through your Ad.
ATTACHING A LOGO
Logos are optional. If you don't have one available while creating a Service Ad, you can add one at a later time. All images should be in JPEG format and should be lower than 500KB in size.

Photos are optional but highly recommended because they add more interest to your Service Ad. If you don't have photos available while creating a Service Ad, you can add photos at a later time. All images should be in JPEG format and should be lower than 500KB in size.
PROOFING AN AD BEFORE YOU PASTE IT
You are presented with an Ad Proof before your Service Ad is pasted. If multiple Ads are created you will see each Ad proof is sequence. To make changes to a Service Ad, click 'Edit Ad' and you will return to the original Ad creation template. Your Ad proof displays green ticks for what's been selected and red crosses for what hasn't been selected. This is so you can easily identify any errors you've made and make changes quickly. Remember, even if you paste your Service Ad and then decide to change it, you can still make changes instantly using the 'Edit Ad', 'Edit Photo' & 'Edit Logo' features which display on each of your Service Ads.
If you have a promotional coupon code, make sure you enter it into the coupon code box provided after proofing your Ad, BEFORE YOU CLICK THE GREEN 'Continue' BUTTON or the promotional coupon will NOT apply!
PAYING FOR YOUR SERVICE AD/S
Once you've proofed your Service Ad (or Ads if multiple Ads are being created in the one session) and have made all of the necessary changes, you are ready to paste your Service Ad/s so everyone viewing the Trade Find website can see them. To proceed with Service Ad placement, click 'Continue' and follow the prompts for payment by credit card. All major credit cards are accepted. Payment by internet banking is also available.
CREATING JOB ADS
SELECT THE JOB AD TERM YOU REQUIRE
On the 'Create' page you have an option to select one of four (4) different Job Ad pasting timeframes:
- 3 days
- 7 days
- 30 days
- 90 days
COMPLETE THE JOB AD TEMPLATE
Once you've selected the Ad pasting term you require, you are presented with an Ad creation template. Create a Job Ad by typing into the text boxes provided and by selecting the information you want to display on your Ad from the various options presented. Here follows the basic structure of a Job Ad template:
Category
Scroll down to select the Category and Sub-Category you wish to advertise under.
Ad Title
Give your Job Ad a Title (e.g.: Builder Required for Decking)
Ad Body
Tell people viewing your Job Ad about the job you have available. Use the 'Ad Body Font Toolbar' (e.g.: Bold, Italics, Bullet Points etc) to add interest to your Ad text and layout. Don't type your email address, phone numbers, website address or physical address into your Ad Body. This box is purely for your Ad text.
Job Area
By default your Trade Find 'Registration Suburb' will be presented. You can change this easily by selecting another region and clicking 'Go' to present the new region areas. You should select the area or suburbs where the job you have on offer is to be performed. If you'd like to display your Ad in EVERY New Zealand region, just select the 'Display in every New Zealand region' option.
Job Timeframe
Select from the options to tell people viewing your Job Ad how quickly you'd like to find someone for the job, i.e.: ASAP, This Month, Next Month, Later Than Next Month, Anytime.
Job Type
Select from the options to tell people viewing your Job Ad if the job you have is a 'One-Off-Job' or if it will be 'Ongoing'.
I'm Prepared to Pay
Select from the options to tell people what you're willing to pay for the job, i.e.: To Be Arranged, Fixed Rate (insert amount and select Per Job, Per Hour, Per Day, Per Night, Per Week, Per Session), Commission (insert %), Contra (insert the Contra deal you're offering).
Contact Details
Insert your email address (if available) and any phone numbers you wish to display on your Ad. Tick the boxes of the details you'd like displayed on your Ad. PAYING FOR YOUR JOB AD
Once you've proofed your Job Ad and have made all of the necessary changes, you are ready to paste it so everyone viewing the Trade Find website can see it. MANAGING YOUR SERVICE ADS
Once you have your own Ads on Trade Find you can manage them freely by clicking 'Manage'. There are a variety of different ways to access your Ads on Trade Find. You can click on the 'Manage' tab (blue bar at the top of all site pages) or you can click 'Manage' or 'My Ads' (positioned in the orange box on the left side of your screen). Whichever way you get to your Ads, as the owner you are presented with an 'Advertisers Quick View' on each of your opened Ads and on your 'My Ads' page. This box is not displayed to anyone else but you. It gives you quick access to the following features:
VIEW THE NUMBER OF TIMES YOUR AD HAS BEEN VIEWED
You can monitor the number of times your Ad has been viewed by someone else by the page view number displayed.
EDITING A SERVICE AD
You can quickly and easily change your Ad category, sub-category, region, text and change the information in your Ad. To do this: click 'Edit Ad' and follow the prompts.
ADDING OR UPDATING PHOTOS
You can quickly and easily change your Ad photo/s. To do this: click 'Edit Photos' and follow the prompts. Alternatively click 'Add' or 'Remove' in the photo boxes displayed on your shortlist view of Ads presented when you click on 'My Ads'.
VIEWING SERVICE AD FEEDBACK
If you want to look at feedback that has been placed on you, click 'Feedback'. The number on the button in brackets represents the number of feedbacks that have been placed on you as an advertiser. Alternatively you can click 'View Feedback' which is positioned above your advertiser contact details on your opened Ad. When viewing feedback you can click 'View Ratings' to see how the feedback rating was constructed. When viewing personal feedback, you have an option to add a comment below the feedback you have received. If the feedback placed has no relevance to the service you deliver click 'Notify Feedback' to let Trade Find know it's bogus.
DEACTIVATING A SERVICE AD
Click the 'Deactivate Ad' button when you need to take a break from the service you are offering. Select the reason for Ad deactivation to display on your Ad. If your Ad is deactivated, people viewing your Ad will not be able to see your contact details. In addition to this, deactivated Ads move to the bottom of their category listing display order so that people browsing Ads always see active Ads first. People waiting for an Ad to be activated can set up automatic notification to receive an email the second an Ad is activated. If you are the owner of a deactivated Ad and Ad Activation Notification is set-up, you will receive and email from Trade Find advising you that someone is waiting for your Ad to be activated. You are free to Activate and Deactivate your Ads as often as you choose.
DELETING A SERVICE AD
Deactivating an Ad is most certainly a better option than deleting one as it gives you an option to re-use your Ad during it's valid term. For times when full Ad deletion is required (like moving countries) click 'Delete Ad'. You will be prompted twice to make sure deletion does not occur accidentally.
MANAGING YOUR JOB ADS
You can manage your Job Ads by clicking on the 'Manage' tab (blue bar at the top of all site pages) or by clicking 'Manage' or 'My Ads' (positioned in the orange box on the left side of your screen). Select the Job Board tab (top orange bar) to view and manage your Job Ads. You will be presented with an 'Advertisers Quick View' on each of your opened Job Ads. This box is not displayed to anyone else but you. It gives you quick access to the following features:
EDITING A JOB AD
You can quickly and easily change your Ad category, sub-category, text and change the information that is displayed in your Ad. To do this: click 'Edit Job Ad' and follow the prompts.
ADDING OR UPDATING A PHOTO OR LOGO You can quickly and easily update your Ad photo or logo. To do this: click 'Edit Photo' and follow the prompts.
EXTENDING THE TIMEFRAME OF A JOB AD
You can extend your Job Ad anytime by clicking 'Extend Job Ad' and selecting the extension term you require. A 90 day Ad term extended four (4) times equals 360 days worth of flexible Job advertising for only $59.80.
DELETING A JOB AD
To delete a Job Ad click 'Delete Ad'. You will be prompted twice to make sure that deletion does not occur accidentally.
MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR TRADE FIND ADS
Each Trade Find Ad has a unique number relating to it which is displayed on the Ad. This Ad number can be entered into the 'Browse an Ad by Number Box' (positioned near the top, in the orange box on the left side of your screen). Using an Ad number to extend your print advertising message is a great way of reducing your 'line for line' print advertising costs.
Get into the habit of using the words: 'Refer Trade Find # XXX' (or TF #XXX) in your print advertising. Print your unique Ad number onto your next run of business cards! Using the flexibility features of your Trade Find Live Ad to keep your business advertising message updated and accurate is far more cost effective than updating printing material, maintaining your own website and paying the high costs for ongoing web-development. All changes you make on your Trade Find Live Ads are updating in real-time so you'll never have to worry about getting stuck with rigid, static, boring, 'out of date' advertising.
